Online Sales: eCommerce Essentials for Creative Businesses [Live Workshop]
Build, run, and grow your creative business by leveraging the power of an online presence.
You can sell your books, your art, or your creative services on your own website, on third-party marketplaces like Amazon or eBay, on specialty sites like Society6, digital platforms like PayHip, and on social media.
You know what you have to sell, and perhaps you’ve been making sales in the analog world. That’s the easy part. The hard part is diversifying what you offer and bringing your real world business online.
Right now is the best time to do it, to become an online entrepreneur and join the carpe diem revolution we know as the Great Resignation (even if you’re not resigning). That’s the good news.
The challenging news—if you don’t know your audience and how to reach them effectively, you’ll be fighting for customer attention. The clearer the vision you have of your ideal consumer, the more specific your marketing message will be, and the better it will resonate with your audience.
If you don’t know the different forms your work or services can take, you’ll be fighting “One Trick Pony” syndrome. Artists can sell more than just originals or prints of their work. Writers aren’t limited to books and audiobooks. Freelancers don’t need to wait for the next job to drop into their inbox. Coaches don’t need to wait for their next client to knock on the door.
Artists can license stock images, do commissions, teach, or start a YouTube channel, for instance. Writers can move to subscription models like Substack and Patreon. Freelancers can create an online course in addition to their done-for-you services. Coaches can establish their expertise and become a paid speaker or start a podcast.
Whether you’re an artist or writer selling your work, an editor or an illustrator selling your skills, a coach offering support or strategy, a publisher or gallery or studio owner helping other creatives, or any type of creative entrepreneur, this workshop will help you align your offers with your audience, expand (or focus) your channels of distribution, and increase your revenue streams.
In this workshop you will learn:
- To identify exactly what you’re selling and who you’re selling it to;
- How to create a product suite from your primary work, product, or service; and
- To choose the marketing signals that align with your strengths.
Once you understand your offer, your audience, and your marketing platform, the rest is logistics. We’ll talk about how to put it together to map out your online success.
2022 is the year of opportunity, for small business growth, and doing work your way. The economy will reap the rewards and so can you.
To take advantage of the promise this year has to offer, you need a strategy for structuring and developing your business. A strategy that makes sense for you and your customers. Because success can only happen when offer, message, and audience come together.
This workshop is being offered as a stand alone opportunity. You do not have to be a member of the Creative Law Center to attend it (members will have access, of course, and need not purchase the workshop separately). You’ll get an email with the Zoom link for Wednesday, February 16th at 1 p.m., EST once you sign up. You will have access to the replay for a year.
This is a live, interactive workshop using Zoom. You will be able to ask questions in real time, so bring your list.
Let’s talk about the pieces of your online business that you already have in place, what’s working, what isn’t, and where you should be putting your effort now to realize rewards later.
