Master of Your Story: How to Work with a Book Coach [Live Workshop]

Writing a book is hard. Especially if you’ve never done it before.

It can be a daunting and solitary task.

Working with a book coach can make the journey less daunting, less lonely, and more likely to be successful.

Book coaches are guides through the writing process. They help writers stay organized. They provide a sounding board for ideas. They can help get your book publish-ready, if not published.

To turn book writing from task to achievement, you need to find the right coach. Someone who has the skill set your project needs. Someone whose style and temperament align with yours.

Not all book coaches can be all things to all writers. Different coaches have expertise in different areas. You and your book have specific needs.

The key to a successful working relationship with a book coach is matching the needs of your project with the expertise of the coach.

In this workshop, you’ll learn about:

  • the services offered by book coaches
  • the right time to hire a book coach
  • how book coaches for fiction v. non-fiction are different
  • how book coaches differ from developmental editors
  • what you can expect to pay to work with a book coach
  • how to find a good book coach to fit you and your project
  • what to expect in a coaching services contract

Our guest this month is Louise Dean. Louise is the founder of The Novelry, a creative writing school that offers both self-paced online courses and one-to-one coaching with bestselling authors as mentors. She is the author of four novels (one of which was an Oprah Book Club selection) and has been published by both Penguin and Simon & Shuster. She has secured top literary agents for her clients.

Louise will share her wisdom on how to make your work with a book coach successful in order to jumpstart your writing career.

This workshop is being offered as a stand alone opportunity. You do not have to be a member of the Creative Law Center to attend it (members will have access, of course, and need not purchase the workshop separately). You’ll get an email with the Zoom link for Wednesday, June 15 at 1 p.m., EDT once you sign up. You will have lifetime access to the replay.

This is a live, interactive workshop using Zoom. You will be able to ask questions in real time, so bring your list.

Not every writer needs a book coach. But if you do, a good coach is going fix the problem you are having with your project.

Join us in this workshop and learn how to choose the best coach for your book.
